H1B and B1

Hi
I have got the H1B visa stamped on 29Dec, 2009. It is valid till 2012.
Now my company wants to send me to US for sometime on B1.
As I have read on this forum, when the company from which you have got H1B is different from the company applying your B1, people generally get the H1B "cancelled without prejudice"
Is that true for my case also. In my case, H1B is from the same company which wants to apply a B1 for me.
Also last year I had got a B1 rejection

H1 visa is not canceled when you go for B1.

Whether to cancel or not is up to the VO.
Even if visa is canceled, petition remains as long as the employer does not cancel it. If the H1 employer wants to employ you again, they can invite you and you can get the visa again if petition is valid. Also, if you have not used your 6 years, you will not be counted under cap if any employer files a petition for you.
