  • Do i need to be in US for H4 to H1?

    Hi ,

I hold a H4 visa. My husband is in US now. Iam in India as his proj got over and also my delivery is due in Apr 2010.

Is it a must that i should be in US to apply for H1 this year? If i should be there, how many months i need to stay there?

My husband's visa expires in Sep 2010. will that matter my H1?

If i need to be there in US during Apr, till how many weeks of pregnancy im allowed to fly?

I hav another doubt on insurance, can anyone suggest an economical insurance that will cover maternity? How many months we need to pay premium for deliver in Apr?

Your comments would help me to take decisions in my life..
    Thanks in advance.

You don't have to be in US to apply for H1. And it has nothing to do with your H4 and any other visas.
Wait till April to apply for new H1, and once approved, you are eligible to work from Oct 2010. You have to go for H1 visa stamping and enter US with H1.

Not sure if pregnancy is covered by new insurance.
