Visa Stamping for H1/H4

Hi,

I have an approved H1 petition from Oct-2008. Till now i am on H4 status. I am visiting India soon and planning to go for H1 VISA stamping at Hyderabad consulate.

My Question is
1) If Visa Officer finds there is not enough documentation, he can either give 221g or reject the VISA.
a. If VISA is rejected, My understanding is nothing happens to the H1
petition. It is still valid. Once I have proper documentation, I can go for
another VISA interview.
b. If 221g is given, requesting additional documentation, can i ignore that
and go for H4 stamping with my Husband's H1 petion.

Please give me any suggestions that i can go with.
