I am on H4 visa and had applied for H1b with Change of Status Option.
After I applied for the H1b, I went out of the country for a week (not home country but to Cost Rica) and ended up getting a new i-94 on re-entry (same status - H4).
After I got back to US, the h1b got approved.
The I-797A has an I-94 attached to it.
The I-94 on the 797 bears the same number as the old I-94.
The question is, do I have to go to my home country to get my H1b activated (consular processing) or can I go ahead and file for SSN and begin to work?
