Query about visa interview

I have an approved h1b petition. I am thinking about applying for my visa interview, so i asked my employer to send me the documents required for visa interview but they told me to take the interview appointment first and said that only after that they will provide me the documents ,1 week in advance to the interview.

My question is:
Please tell me what should be the way...should i apply for interview then wait for the documents from my employer?
OR
Should they provide me all the required documents before my filing for the interview.

Either way is okay. You won't need the company documents before the visa interview. At the worst case, if you don't receive the documents at least a week before the interview as promised by your employer, you will still have time to cancel the appointment.
