I have an H1B, do I need an F1 to enroll in University part time?

I currently work full time on an H1B, and am thinking of going to school for an MBA program. Would I need to apply for an F-1 visa in order to go to school or can I just aply to the university as a resident since I am working and living full time in the US. New York City to be exact, not sure if it makes a difference.
