Hi Team,

Coul you please help me out the process of reapply for SSN.

Few months I came to USA through H1B that given by one of the consultancy. I have applied for SSN and given postal address of my consultancy. Due to the emergency I went to India.

I have got confirmation from my consultsancy office that they received my SSN.

Now I came to USA through L1B. So the consultacy won't give my SSN.

Is there any problem to reapply my SSN?

You can apply for SSN only once in lifetime. You can only have one SSN per life time. (There are some rare exceptions where you are a witness in some major criminal case and it is in best interest to give you new identity or something like that.)

You can apply for replacement SSN card indicating that your original card is lost.

For replacement of SSN, I need to fill one application form at SSN Office. The applicsation itself I have found one column it was asking about my present SSN number. Even I really don't know my present SSN number.

In this case also Do I proceed to apply replacement SSN?

The best thing is to ask this question to SSA and ask them for their suggestion as they really know what all can be done.
