  • Convering H4 to F1 with a time gap

I am currently on H4 and my husband is on H1. I am already started my MS program in US in Sep. 2009. I want to change my H4 to F1. But when I talked with my school's international student advisor, she said my application will be denied because there is a time gap.

My H4 visa going to expert on Jun 30, 2010 but my next semester will be start from Sep. 2010. The adviser said she can not issue me a I-20 in this month (April 2010) because this fall semester already started. She can only issue me a I-20 in Sep 2010(the start of next semester).

Is she right? Can I get a I-20 from in the middle of a semester? If there is a time gap between my H4 visa and the next semester start, will my application get denied?

    Thank you!
