  • Need urgent inputs - visa interview tomorrow - DS 160 impact on information changes

    Hi,

I have my visa interview tomorrow and I would sincerely appreciate any quick inputs on the following -

I had submitted my DS-160 in August and have my visa interview tomorrow. Since I submitted by DS-160 my visa status has changed and I have since traveled to the US.
So the information on my last visa and dates of entry was factually correct when I submitted my DS-160 but has changed since then.

I am not sure how this will impact my interview tomorrow and how should I prepare for it.

I would sincerely appreciate any quick inputs from the group.

    Regrads,
    An Anxious Visa Applicant

Well, usually minor changes are okay and acceptable as long as they're not updates that would change the dynamics of your case. Traveling to the US, in my opinion, wouldn't necessarily mean you have to reschedule your interview to fix the error. Why don't you do this? submit a new DS-160 and print it, and bring it along with you to the interview in addition to the original DS-160 that you submitted. Then during the interview, inform the officer that you made a visit to the US after submitting the form and it's not reflected in the DS-160. Then, if the officer says you must a new one, you can offer the newer ds-160 that you've brought along. In my opinion, they won't ask you to submit another one, but they may. So, it's best to go prepared.

Good luck. I learned the hard way, I hope you don't have to. Immigration is interesting. Not considered as legal advice.
