Hello...new to the forum and i have been reading all the posts but they all seem to be about after some1 already has a H1B....My question is as follows...

If i live in a foreing country and find a US employer/sponser what is the process?

    1) US employer files for work visa?
    2) I go for an interview at my consulars?
    3) If granted, I get a work visa that is valid for a certain date range?
    4) I travel to US on work visa and goto work etc...

If so, what happens if my US employer/sponser lays me off b4 i even travel? Do they file a termination notice with USCIS and that invalidates my visa? or Can i still travel to US and look for another job? Im assuming that I can't because Id be out of status and would basically be here illegally....

    Thanks

You can find the information about the process at https://www.immihelp.com/usa-h1-visa/ which is an overview and on that page there will be links to detailed information about the whole process under the tabs for general information, H-1B petition, before interview, after interview, resources, etc.
