  • L1 to H1

    Hi,

I have valid L1 and got a COS done for H1 a while ago and did not switch to H1 and got the COS ineffective by going out of the country.

Now if I want to switch to H1 can I do a COS again or should it be a stamping ?

Thanks in advance for the help.

You can either apply for a COS. COS need to be approved for you to start working for the H1B employer. Alternatively, you can go out of the country, get the H1B stamped and re-enter U.S in the H1B visa.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

Thanks Shervin. I understand that I can go for another COS.

Blanket petitions are not available for H1B Visas, but they are for L1 Visas. If the L1 visa employer has a blanket petition approved, then there is no processing required at the USCIS for individual cases, making the visa process much easier.
