DS 160 question help

Hi,

I would be submitting my DS 160 for H1b visa and would appreciate if someone could help me with the following question.

1. Person paying for this trip?
I am not employed but have joint accounts in bank with my parents. Would it be okay to answer 'self' for this question and how much balance should I show in my account to be on the safe side.I start my employment in July in US and would be paid for it.

2. As I had been preparing for my exams so I did not take up any employment for a couple of years.Is it okay to write 'not employed' in the employment section?

3. Can I schedule an appointment for stamping without the petition number?

1. 'Self' not a issue.
2. No. H1B means you're already employed. if you're not employed, you can apply for different visa.
3. No for H1B. yes for other visas like B2.
