H1 Ammendment

I am here on L1 and I had an approval for H1B. The H1B sponser has filed an ammendment of H1B and it is in initial review status. In case, my employer for whom I am in L1B asks me to go back due to the project getting over, what are the options I have to stay back? I have 16 more months of I94 for L1. Is it possible for me to come back after getting the H1B ammendment approval?

What is the H1B amendment for? Is the amendment filed for a COS from L1 to H1B? If yes, then until the amendment is approved, you cannot work for the H1B employer. If the L1 employer asks you to go back in the mean time, then you will have to leave the country. Since you already have an approved H1B petition, you can get it stamped and re-enter in H1B visa to work for the H1B employer.
