Valid H1, entering US while new H1 under processing

Hi all,

I have a H1B visa which is valid until Dec 2010. I am currently looking for other employment opportunities. I am in the final stages of interviewing with two companies.

My question is:

Say, in a week or so I get an offer from one of those companies and i accept it. They will start processing my H1B visa application.

While the visa processing is going on can i go to India and come back ?
Would there be any problem when i reenter US say in mid July ?

I would great;y appreciate if someone can clarify.

It is advisable to stay in the country when the transfer is in progress. There are chances that your transfer with a new I-94 might get denied. If you had to leave, then request your employer to apply the transfer in premium process which will get you a result in 15 days.
