Hello, I am currently on H1B VISA and my wife is on J1 VISA. I have lost my job. If I transfer to J2 (dependent of J1), will my H1B clock pause ? Can I return back to same H1B later without going through lottery ?

Answer: Yes.
Can I return back to same H1B later without going through lottery ?
Answer: Yes. But you will need to again file change of status petition for H1B.
