  • F1 to H1B - Visa Stamping Advice

Hi I am currently working in US on F1 - OPT. My H1B was approved in 2020 and I'm planning to book an appointment at Mumbai consulate to get my H1B stamped (F1 to H1B)

My knowledge is that H1B applications are getting reject 212(f) due to travel ban PP#10052

Am I liable to get a 212(f) reject if I go for visa stamping prior to 31st Mar 2021? I believe PP#10052 is not applicable for me since I was present in the US at the time of the proclamation, but I could be wrong since my visa status is changing from F1 to H1B.

Any advice on how I should plan my travel to India -
Option 1 - Obtain visa stamping appointment before 31st Mar
Option 2 - Obtain visa stamping appointment after 31st Mar
Option 3 - Wait till 31 Mar for clarity on travel ban extension and then obtain visa stamping appointment

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Most of them are scheduling visa Interview even if that is first time Interview after they get H1B.. As you mentioned, Since you were present at the time of Proclamation, Hopefully you will not have any issues.. You may try any time you want... You may also try Delhi consulate..

    Thanks...
