Work from India on H1B for a US employer

Hi,

Due to a family medical emergency I need to go to India and not sure of the duration I will need to stay there. I have a valid H1B till Nov 2023 and my employee is ok if I work from home from India for the time I need to support my family. Want to understand is there any restriction of working from India on H1B with respect to how long I can continue.

Also currently am renting an apartment, is there a need to maintain a residential address in USA? I plan to terminate the lease and space my things in storage. Will this be an issue?

Hi,
If you are out of country then your H1B clock will be stopped and you can recapture these days later.. if you work from India, That's purely your Employer willingness.. And since you are out of country, if you want to break your lease you can do..
