VIsa status shows 'Administrative Processing'

Hello,
I am on H1B and went for dropbox in New Delhi along with my wife (H4) on Apr 16, 2021 for US visa stamping. My wife's visa is approved and she got her passport on Apr 23rd whereas my status shows as under 'Administrative Processing' since Apr 23rd. I sent an email to [email protected] but the response received was the same as what I see online when checking the visa status. I tried calling the numbers provided at https://in.usembassy/gov/visas but was unable to talk to any agent. What should be my next step?

Hi,
If you see the status as Administrative processing then you will need to wait for sometime.. But, if you have any Emergency travel back to USA, the only way you can approach either over Email or Phone call. I do again suggest sending Email with all your concerns to Support Email.. Please note, Due to less volume of Employees working in Embassy you may get response bit delay..
But I believe you will get the status soon.

Thank you for the information! I did reach out to the team couple of days back via email provided in Although, I saw the visa status as under 'Administrative Processing' but they mentioned that the status is in final processing. Maybe they check something at their end which is not known to us as a user. So dropping an email to them is a good idea like you mentioned. That being said, I was unable to reach out to them via any of the two phone numbers. Luckily, the status got updated to 'Issued' yesterday so I should be receiving the passport soon.

Just providing the timelines below that may help others:

Apr 16 - Went for dropbox with my wife
Apr 23 - Wife received the stamped passport
Apr 23 (Friday) - My visa status shows as 'Administrative Processing' (Last Updated date shows as Apr 23)
Apr 26 onwards - embassy closed or limited opening due to COVID
May 3 - My visa status shows as 'Administrative Processing' (Last Updated date shows as May 3)
May 4 -Status changed to 'Issued'
