H4 application guidelines

I am going to file for a new H1B this year and need to read the guidelines. More specifically I would like to know when I can apply for H4s for my wife
and kid. As of today the kid's passport is valid. Wife's passport has to be renewed.

Can I apply for H4 for the kid first when I file for H1?
How can I do this if I travel to the US first ? What is the procedure then ? Any advice ?

Hi,
I assume you are outside of USA and filing H1B petition under FY2022 CAP.. If that is the case, you don't need to file separate H4 petition while you file H1B petition.. Once you get H1B Approval, when you go for Visa stamping, you can also book Appointment for your dependents to get H4 visa at consulate/embassy.
If you are right now in the USA and filing H1B change of status petition then you will need to file H4 change of status petition for your spouse and children. When you file H1B petition, you can file H4 petition together.

Appreciate your response. It is a H1B petition under FY2022 CAP.
The H4 may be granted along with the H!B visa stamp at the local consulate. The dependents can travel independently ? I think. They don't need
to travel along with me.

Yes.. Once you both get visa approval, either travel together or separately.. There is no issues if you both travel separately.
