  • H4 Visa dropbox 221g due to Presidential Proclamation 10199

    Hi,

My wife appeared for H4 visa renewal using dropbox at Mumbai, VAC.
As currently Presidential Proclamation 10199 is in place, she tried submitting documents for our US born kid to prove that proclamation 10199 is not applicable to her.
Person at VAC asked for NIE (National Interest Exception) but she doesn't need one as she is parent of US citizen minor child.

It is mentioned on FAQ on US embassy website

So she submitted documents without NIE and also person at the counter returned documents for our kid.

After couple of days application status changed to "Refused" and then she received her passport back with 221(g) letter citing Presidential Proclamation 10199.
There is no mention of any documents to be submitted and it states that you can try contacting customer care when suspension is no longer in place.

So what should i do in this case?
    Did anyone faced similar situation?

    Hi,
It's sad.. Just want to make sure, did you book expedited appointment? And did you mention anywhere that, you have US citizen kid?
I think, your request was considered as regular one.
    Thanks

No, it wasn't Expedited Appointment, just regular dropbox appointment.
On DS-160 i mentioned under the section of "relatives in US" other than that there was no formal way to convey the same about US citizen kid.
Couldn't apply for NIE as it is not required in our case.

        Hi,
I suggest you to consider now expedited appointment with all supporting documents. I think this is the only way for moving forward.
        Thanks
