H1B to F1 - Urgent Help needed

Hi all,

I had H1 B visa in US but got laid off in march 2010. Then i got admission at the University this fall. I have an I-20 so i can be legal and wait for spouse PR. I applied PR in April 2010 and it has been moved to LA office in August 2010.

Now, I don't want to go to the University and pay $8000 tuition. Is it ok to be overstay in US if i don't join University? Is there any way I can be legal for couple of months because my I-20 will expire next week ?

No. You will go out of status if you do that and it will cause issues. If you don't want to contuinue your studies, you will have to change to some other valid status or leave the country.
