  • Pre-interview screening questions about H-1B visa

    Hi everyone,

I got a call from a potential employer's HR department asking me only two questions: "Which H-1B term are you on?" and "What is the start and end date of this term?".

It seems to me that this would affect their consideration of my candidacy if I can't stay long to work for them.

Is it legal to ask questions like that?

    Thanks.

---- The term H-1B term iseems to be about Cap or Cap exempt, meaning that you may already be on H1. The term is normally 3 years unless an employer has applied for a reduced term

---- There is nothing illegal about this question if the above reasoning is applied to your case
