Hi friends,
Just thought of sharing my experience regarding the H1B extension. But only for those in Non-profit organization and emplyers who think the Premium processing should not become a regular processing norm.
I had filed for H1B extension, after the first term of 3 years, and it was well past two months of processing time-almost into 5th month. My DL was about to expire on Sept.23 and the DMV refused renewal of license with only the receipt number.
My employer was very generous to call the USCIS customer service and tell them that it was well past two months of processing time (Vermont center) and that they are not willing to go for a premium processing as the institution is a non-profit organization. And that the employee needs to drive to work.
And the US employer was courageous enough to confront the USCIS personnel regarding the Premium processing, which is to be used only for emergency cases and not force the employer, to go for premium processing, who apply months before the expiry.
All said and done, it was approved on the fifth day of filing complains, after five months.
Well, if all employers take courage to confront the system, it might work.
All the best for those who are still awaiting the approval.
