Hello! I'm looking for some insights on my situation.
I'm an H1B holder from India.
My current employer transferred my H1B in April 2021, while I was in India. Right after, the presidential proclamation was made owing to the pandemic. The HR at my company said they couldn't give me an NIE, but they asked me to book an appointment anyway.
I managed to book a Dropbox appointment with the Delhi consulate in September 2021 (dropbox because of the H1B transfer)
I dropped my passport and supporting documents off at the Delhi consulate and did not receive any letter or slip from them.
I checked CEAC for the status and it said "refused". I had heard that visas under administrative processing were marked as refused on the portal.
About a week later I got an email to pick my passport up from the consulate. To my shock, the passport was not stamped, nor had they provided any letter or slip justifying the refusal.
I emailed and called US travel docs multiple times and they finally said that my case is under administrative processing (221G) from the presidential proclamation.
It's been more than 15 weeks of waiting now. The presidential proclamation was rescinded on Nov 8th 2021. I've tried contacting US travel docs multiple times and I get the same automated reply saying the consulate will contact me.
My questions:
1. Is anyone on the same boat? Did you receive any communication from the consulate? Should I be worried that my visa was denied?
2. Should I withdraw my application and start a new application and look for an interview date?
(my previous H1B expired in Dec 2021. So I'm assuming I'll have to re-appear for an interview)
Thank you in advance!
