I94 requirements

Hi,

I need help to understand if I need to do anything with my I94 records.

I am planning to travel to India on April 15th and I have a question about I94.

My I94 admit until date reflects 09/2020 which is based on my previous employer I797. In 08/2020 my new employer filed for my h1b and I received a new I797 with expiration of 08/2023.

I had renewed my passport in 2021. Under the I94 website there is no record of my new passport as I did not travel outside the US.

Do I need to update the I94 records with CBP before I travel? Or will it automatically happen when I exit the country based on my 2023 I797?
Am I under any situation considered out of status for any period?

Your H1b petition approval probably comes with an Extension of Stay approval, i.e. it is an I-797A that comes with a paper I-94. This I-94 replaces any previous I-94s you got, including any electronic I-94s you got at entry. The CBP's electronic I-94 website will not be updated, and the I-94 on there no longer matters, because you got a newer I-94.
