H1 stamping dates

Worst problem is that you need a new DS-160 if you take a date at a consulate other than the one you entered while filling the DS-160 form. E.g. you filled Mumbai as the consulate in DS-160 but since there are no dates in Mumbai, if you want to take a date in Kolkata, you need to create a completely new DS-160 form. This I believe is crap and total bullsh*t.

This is exactly from the VFS website:
"On confirmation your interview will be scheduled at the Consular post as shown in the calendar below. Please ensure you have selected the same Consular Post while filling form DS-160. If you have selected another Consular Post in form DS-160, please modify the same and generate a new CEAC confirmation code before you proceed to schedule your interview"

I guess it still stands true that none of the consulates have dates open for December 2010 yet. I'm checking for slots and this thread on a regular basis for updates. Please post here if anyone books a December slot in any consulate... I know I will.

Still no luck

Hi ppl,

I still have had no luck. Mumbai calendar showed up for a couple of hours but with a single date Nov 15th. Looks like they are opening it with a very short window.
& I also called the consulate helpline only to be told the same old stuff..."we r busy and plz keep looking, it will open 2-3 weeks in advance etc etc".
One weird thing was that he mentions that even when you select Mumbai on the state of residence page (earliest available date) and e.g. Chennai shows up, you can go ahead and book your date in Chennai!!!
I asked him atleast 10 times if he is sure and he says yes. Our info will get transferred it seems and no need for new DS160.
Secondly, someone else told me that Chennai allows only southern states.

So what are we supposed to do?

I too did go all the way entering all info but did not confirm appt as it did not show Mumbai calendar in the last step too!

As usual..if anyone has had luck, plz post here.

What a twist of fate, I want to book in Chennai but Chennai calendar wouldnt show up. I get Kolkata. Wonder what is up with this stupid calendar mess.

First week of December is up for grabs for New Delhi. Nothing for the other consulates yet for December though.

keep checking visa dates between 10 - 11 pm EST. I got my preferred date at ND during this time slot.
Everything is fine with their system. The only thing is they are not keeping dates open for long time. they open them in morning (IST) and close it within few hours.

Just saw the dates for Mumbai open for the week of 29th Nov to 3rd Dec. When I checked 2 hours ago, all days were open except 29th.

Tip: keep checking between 5:30 am to 8 am PST OR
6 pm to 8 :30 pm PST...things change quickly during these times....

Yeah me too! I got in for Nov 29th in Mumbai. Has anyone been able to download the checklist document?

I have a question though - I downloaded the docs (did not have it emailed like most you guys I suppose).
then could not click 'EXIT'. Page expired.
Does it even matter?

When you ppl clicked 'Exit' after downloading, did it have anything further??
I dont think so.
Asking just for peace of mind plz let me know.

I think Kolkatta is the only consulate which is always free to book the appointment.

All other consulates are always busy and could not able to get the dates.
