Hi,
I came to US on a J1 and after 4 years changed to H1B (approved and valid till Oct. 2011) and after 1 year got promoted so my job title changed (job description remains same) so my employer filed new H1B little more than 2 mo. ago. I have not received the final approval letter but I have the case no. WAC..... from the I797C (notice of action). I haven't been to India since the time I moved to H1B. As I understand, I need to get an H1B visa stamped when I visit in India. I am planning to go to India soon (Nov 27, 2010) and wanted to take an appointment with US consulate Hyd.
My question is,
1. Can I enter the receipt number from I797C on the visa application form even though my I797A is not received. I am confident that it will get approved.
2. Alternatively, can I book the appointment based on my previous petition which was approved till Oct. 2011 even though the current is under review.
