  • Renewing H1B Visa and Father planning a Visit

    Hi,

I’ve worked on my H1B Visa for 4 years so far. Now I’ve gotten my H1B Visa renewed for another 3 yrs. After renewal I will be heading to India so I’ve set up an appointment at Chennai consulate to get Visa stamping.

Meanwhile my dad is planning a visit to United states next year so I was thinking of setting up a tourist Visa (B2) appointment for him at the same time as my visa interview. Is that OK or should I have to book an appointment for him a week or two later than mine? I’m just kind of concerned that Visa might be rejected if we both attend it at the same time for some unknown reason. Your help will be appreciated.

      Hi OP,

Technically/Procedural wise/Documents wise -there is no issue.

BUT - as you know it all depends on VO also/his/her thinking/logic etc.

As you and your father cannot go to the same window for the appointment.
So if VO asks your father abt your visa/photocopy of it and that time you will be also in India for stamping- so VO may ask your father to come later (once your Visa is approved to make sure that you will be in US when your father travels)

So this is just my thinking/view - that it may not be rejected but delayed.

      Thanks and regards,
      Abhay
