Left US Permanently while on active H1. What are the next step ?

Hi I left US and relocated in a different country. At the time of leaving US, I had an active H1B through my current employer. I'm not sure what happened to the active H1 now.

Is there anything that I should have done when I left the US from an immigration perspective ?
Also how can I check if my employer has withdrawn my H1 or not ?
