Applying for Greencard before H1-B

Hi, I am currently on my F-1 visa and my employer will apply for my H1-B this year.

If it does not get picked, can I ask my employer to file for my greencard while I am on F-1 visa and not H1-B https://100001.onl/ https://1921681254.mx/

What happens when my F1 visa expires and my Greencard is filed, can I still work for my employer till the Greencard is approved or only after it is approved?
