H1 B visa is still in initial review stage

Hi,
My H1 B visa has been filed in uscis on july 2, 2010 and the status shown in uscis site is initial review.

I have'nt seen any status on this for four months now. Is U.S. gov still doing their background check or my visa is likely to get rejected?

I want to know when will i be getting H1b approved?

Please help.

You are not alone. People who have filed their extension in the month of June haven't heard anything yet from USCIS. The normal procesisng time has been increased from 90 days to 130 days and it takes more than 130 days these days (Especially with the California Service Center). Like advised, ask your company attorney to follow up USCIS.
