H1B stamping before 6 months of it's expiration

I am planning to got for H1B Stamping in February 2011 for the first time. My H1B is going to expire in September 2011. Is it safe to go or should I renew the H1 and then go. Please help.

One more question, I have to go Mumbai consulate for stamping. Is it safe to go Mumbai than other consulate offices ?

One consulate is no more or less 'safe' than others. If you have a legit employer who pays you according to LCA and clients projects if applicable, you will get the Visa.
However, remember that Visa validity will only be as long as your petition validity. Visa is only required for entry to the US.
