    There is no such average duration. The duration vary from one case to another. Search and read about the experiences posted by other in immihelp on the topic "Admin Processing" or "221g".

        H4 Visa Interview.

        Can one attend H4 Visa interview along with her spouse's H1 Visa interview? If so, how to co-ordinate the booking of visa interview appointments? Do they need to fill in separate DS-160 forms? Please advise.

          Possible. You need to choose the family option. Once the primary applicant (H1B holder) completes his application, there is a option to add the dependents. That way, you can book a single visa appointment slot and go together for the interview.

          Yes, the DS-160 need to be filled for each person who will attend the visa interview.

            Thanks Shervin!

            Then, does one need to purchase another demand draft for the dependents visa interview or would this be part of primary applicant's visa application fee?

              Every visa applicant will need a separate demand draft. What you pay is the processing fee / VFS passport delivery fee for each applicant.

                @tina1811

                its frustating to see your case stuck since Oct 18. I have no hope of my mine for which docs were submitting on Nov 18. Its better to start contacting embassy straight or VFS every week with bit of pressure to come out with some results. For few ppl this has paid up and they picked up their cases. All the best.

                  Contacting Consulate / VFS ..too many times

                  I am not sure that is a good idea to be contacting them frequently about your case. As you think it does not put any pressure ( at least your calls) also it sometimes annoys them...

                  Please note that they keep record of all your calls to them, in my case they did... they put a postit note on my application file for everytime I had called them. When I attended my green card interview they asked me... Looks like you have been frequently contacting the INS ( I said, yes I was concerned as my H1 was running out and may have the leave the US... thats why).

                  So I would suggest that you follow others experience and determine the average wait time, if yours far exceeds them most definitly get in touch. Use the tracker..

                  best of luck.

                    What is I mentioned, are based on some posts that ppl have tried to explain their problem and helpness when there is no response from embassy 2-3-4 mo. Its on each individual whether to use other's experience on not. It may not be good idea but for few ppl it has worked. Contacting embassy means once in 10-12 days and that also when case is pending since more than 2 mo. After 2 mo there is not much left apart from enquiring them. And What is use of opening case after 2 mo when client in US has terminated the applicant after waiting a month or two. In that case any way embassy will reject application saying your client doesnt want to use your services. Long wait is good for those who are going first time and have a job in India. Or for whom employer has direct client and client can wait for long. Who came to India on short vacation and have left their home, job, car etc. in US, for them its very painful to wait as they are in no man's land.
