Question about the receipt number of I797

I have a question about extending the L1 visa. I have the old I797 form with me but I didn't get the new I797 for my L1 visa extension yet. But in order to make an early appointment(otherwise I may need to wait for 1 month), I am thinking to use the receipt number in my old I797 to make an appointment, but I am wondering whether that number will stay the same in the new I797?

No. You will get a new approval notice with a new number. It is good to be positive. But booking an appointment hoping that the extension will get approved doesn't seem appropriate. Wait for the approval to come to make the visa appointment.
