  • I-797 and I-797C Digital Copy

Three years ago, I applied for H4 through my lawyer, and he sent me digital copies of forms I-797C and I-797. They are not scanned digital copies.

Recently, I applied for H4 on my own to avoid paying legal fees, and it was accepted. I-797 and I-797C were mailed to me. I was able to view the status of my account online, but not the digital copies of I-797C or I-797, when I logged in. How can I obtain those in digital copy? Or is it even possible?

    Thanks!

It's good news that your recent H4 application was accepted! Unfortunately, obtaining digital copies of the I-797C and I-797 from your previous application might be challenging. Here's why:

    1. USCIS Doesn't Store Digital Copies: USCIS generally doesn't maintain readily available digital copies of issued documents like these forms.

    2. Lawyer Doesn't Have Obligation: While your lawyer might have kept copies for their records, they're not obligated to provide them digitally, especially after three years.

Remember: These forms shouldn't be crucial for your current H4 status since you already received new ones for the recent application. They mostly serve as historical records.

It's always wise to keep physical copies of important documents like these for future reference.
