I-94 Expiring but I797 valid till next year

Old passport is expiring in one week which has a h1b stamp. I797 is valid till end of next year. On my I-94, expiration date is same as passport expiration date. do I need to leave and re enter US or can I just go to CBP inspection site ?

my passport was renewed within US after entry on on the old passport with stamp.

Hi,
first, you please approach near by CBP office. Most of the time, they will update your I-94 as per new documents. If not, then you will need to cross the border and update your I-94 accordingly.

Was the I-797 an I-797A? If so, it should have come with a detachable paper I-94 as part of the page. Does that paper I-94 start before or after the electronic I-94 that you got at the last entry?
