Travel during H1 extension with H1 visa-stamping to be done

My I-797 expires in July 2011. Employer has applied for H1 (status) extension. H1 visa has expired a few months ago and I will be getting H1-visa-stamping at chennai consulate.

I need to visit India.

1. What are possible problems that I can encounter if I travel while my H1-extension-application is pending?

2. Will travel outside US cause problems to the ongoing H1-extension?

3. Are there any potential I-94-connected problems?

Yes. Search and read about similar posts in immihelp. It is never advisable to travel when the extension is pending with USCIS.
