  • Wife going alone for H4 stamping on a joint slot - is this OK?

    Hey everyone,

freaking out a little here and could use some advice. My wife (H4) has her renewal stamping soon.

We originally booked a "joint" appointment slot for both of us. The problem is, I (the H1B) am staying in the US for work and won't be going with her.

I'm a bit worried they might give her trouble at the VAC or the interview for showing up alone to an appointment that was booked for two people.

Has anyone else been in this situation? Can she just explain that I'm in the US working?

(This is just a standard extension for both of us, same company, EVC model. She'll have all my docs - new i797, paystubs, vendor letters, etc. I'm not worried about the paperwork, just the joint slot part.)

    Thanks!!

    Hi,
This should not cause any issues if she goes alone. If the officer asks about the H1B spouse, she can simply explain that he is currently in the USA for work and could not attend the appointment with her.
    Thanks
