  • Multiple I797 approval.Which one will be stamped?

    Hi,

My current visa approval notice (I797) is valid till 10th April 2011. I have applied for my H1 extension and just got another visa approval notice (I797) which is valid from 11th April 2011 to 10th April 2012. I will be traveling to India from 1st March 2011 till 4th April 2011.

If I go for visa stamping on 20th March 2011,

    1. Will I get stamping till 10th April 2011 (Current I797) or 10th April 2012 (New I797)?
    2. Which Petition number should I put in DS-160 form?
    3. When I go for Visa stamping, Is it advisable to produce both I797?

    Thanks & Regards,
    VRS

    1. Will I get stamping till 10th April 2011 (Current I797) or 10th April 2012 (New I797)?
    >>> If you show the approval notice that is valid until April 2012, then you will get the visa until 2012.

    2. Which Petition number should I put in DS-160 form?
    >>> The one that is until 2012.

    3. When I go for Visa stamping, Is it advisable to produce both I797?
    >>> You should produce both.

      Thanks for the reply.

My new approval notice is valid from 11th APR 2011 to 10th April 2012. So when I go for stamping on 20th March 2010, new approval notice will not in effect.

Will consulate combine both the approval notice while stamping?? As if he stamp only for new approval notice then I will not be able to travel before 11th April 2011 back to US.

      Regards,
      VRS

That should not be a problem. Like I mentioned, carry both the approval notices. This is not new. If you are still in doubt, call VFS helpdesk.
