  • Blue 221(g) passport damage, help?

    Hi all,

If you're reading this, thanks for your time.

I have been working in the US for almost 2 years now, and was a student there before. On Feb 2010, I got a I-797 changing my status from F1 to H1B. Until then, I was on OPT which was due to run out in March 2010.

I came back to India for a visa interview on Dec 3rd 2010 at the Chennai Consulate, and everything went ok - however, my passport (with a green 221(g) slip) was returned as the lamination had started to come off, and I was instructed to send a new passport. I submitted both my new and old passport on the Feb 4th 2011, but now - more than 2 weeks later - I still have not heard back anything about my case.

Should I be worried? Has anyone else seen delays in Chennai cases this month?

    Thanks,
    pdinc

I'm simultaneously happy that I'm not alone in this boat, and saddened by the huge backlog of cases. I have the flexibility of working from India, I can't imagine what other people would have to go through!

      Thanks!
