When can petition for H1B be filed?

I would appreciate your assistance with my question. I intend to take up a job shortly. Now i understand that the H1B filing starts in April. When can the company file for my H1B. Is it at the time i accept their offer of employment or is it only after i join and start working? Appreciate your advice.

H1B should be filed before you can start working for the employer. If you are currently not in H1B status, then you cannot join the new H1B employer until the H1B gets approved (with a new I-94). What is your current immigration status? Did you previously had an H1B with any other employer? If yes, how many years have you used in that CAP?
