  • H1 to L1 - Stamping in Canada?

    Hello folks,

I am really confused on this one so hope one of the experienced people on the forum can help me on this.

I was on L1 and now my status has changed to H1 while in US. So my question is, can I go to Canada for getting my visa stamped? I have searched forums and there seems to be about 50/50 split on the answer so am really confused.

I do not have US education, but have been working in US for the past 4 years and have never been out of status.

    Thanks for your help!

EDIT: Sorry I meant "L1 to H1" in the subject.

If this is your first time H1B stamping, then it should be stamped at the U.S consulate in your home country unless you have done your studies in U.S. It will not be possible for the consulate in U.S to verify your academic certificates if it is not from U.S.
Not a legal advice. Use of this information is strictly at your own risk.
