H1 transfer without I797 info but without papers?

I have the receipt no. of approved I797 from my employer. They are taking too much time sending me the original copy. And I have a good opportunity to switch to another job.
Do I need to have copy of I797 in order to transfer H1, or can I do it just by using receipt no. (and other info) of I797?

Receipt number is enough to transafer the H1B, if you know for sure that receipt number belongs to you. It is advisable to have a copy of the approval notice though.
