Is it possible to apply and get SSN on a H1B petition even though I am on H4 status?
Fyi, one of the documents for SSN is I-94. This I-94 is mapped to my H4.

You need to be in a valid work status to get the the SSN. They won't see any reason to issue you a SSN when you are in H4 status which won't allow you to work and pay taxes.
