Transfer from H1B to F1

Hi,

I'm on an H1B visa, finishing my first three years this month. The extension is approved and valid till Aug 2014. I am planning to go back to school full-time next fall. How will it affect my 6-yr H1 quota, will the H1 clock continue to tick ?

I am thinking that after I get out of school (2016) I'll need at least a year to convince my future employer to apply for the GC. If the H1 clock stops next year when I transfer to F1, I guess I still have enough time.

Apart from the GC aspect , do you see any other issues with the H1 to F1 xfer ?

No issues. Only the time spend in U.S in H1B + L1 status counts towards the 6 year CAP. So when you finish your school, you can still use the same CAP to file a new H1B and get the remaining period in that CAP.
