  • Does getting an I-20 cause any issue in filling for H-1B?

    Greetings,

My wife is on H-4 (my dependent), She got accepted in one college for MS and she received her I-20 from college. We haven't filed for her Change of Status from H-4 to F-1 yet. Now she has a job offer from a well reputed employer and the employer is ready to file for her H1-B. Will there be any issue in getting her H1-B approved because she has an I-20 from a college or any issues there after while she works on H1-B? In case her H1 gets rejected, can she apply for COS later from H4 to F1? Her employer and college don't know about each other yet. Does she need to inform the college about true reason of her dropping off?

    Thanks & Regards.

Having an I-20 does not matter.

Schools can always defer admission by 1 or 2 semesters if the student is unable to join in the current semester.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
