Query on H1B of ex-employer

One of my friends wife is on L2 visa in USA. She is currently not working in USA, however she also has her H1B stamped from her Indian Ex-employer. Can she still work on the H1B of her previous employer in USA or she will have to compulsarily apply for her EAD on L2 visa to get a work authorization status in USA.

First of all one can only work for the sponsoring employer on H1B.
Secondly, one must be in H1B status in order to work for the sponsoring employer. Status is determined by latest I-94. Visas in passport don't matter.
