Can I travel to USA on H4 though I have F1 stamping

Hi, I have valid H4 visa till January 2012 and I got F1 visa stamping recently in October 2011. I reserved return ticket for USA on November 16th. I have joined University and Winter semester starts from January 1 2012. I should not travel to USA not earlier than December 1 on F1 visa. My question is can I travel to USA on Nov 16 on H4 visa? Will there be any problem at immigration port. Please give reply to my question. Thanks in advance.

No issues. You can travel in H4 now. Later you can file a COS from H4 to F1. Some universities allow people to study in H4. But if you want to take advantage of OPT/CPT, then you should file the COS to F1. Alternatively, you can also leave the country and return back in F1 visa ti get to F1 status.

Check your passport to make sure that your H4 visa was not cancelled during the F1 visa interview. Most of the time they will cancel the previous visa.
