H4 application while H1-B application is in progress

Hi,

I am asking this on behalf of my friend.

He is on H1-B. His current visa is expiring in next month by Mid January. His extension application has been filed with USCIS.

His wife had work visa. She may require to change her status from work visa to dependent visa (H4) by end of January.

Do you know if this can be done while his extension processing is in progress?

Possible. Look into form I-539 and instruction to file form I-539. There is an option to file H4 based on the pending H1B petition.
