H1B Petition is valid only for 7 months

Hi All,

I am holding a H1B petition which was approved in 2009 and valid till Aug-2012. Now, I am going for the stamping on 24-Jan-2012 to Mumbai Consulate.

I am afraid if they ask that why I did not come for stamping in last 2.5 years, what should be the ideal answer of this question which justifies the reason. Please also share other experiences and tips which can be useful for me.
